Good to know
Irrigation vs drainage: What’s the difference?
Irrigation involves using collected water – for example, from a rain barrel, cistern or well – and directing it purposefully, such as to a garden sprayer or lawn sprinkler. This is typically done with a garden pump, which is positioned outside the water and generates sufficient pressure.
Drainage, on the other hand, is about removing as much water as possible in a short amount of time – for example, from a flooded cellar, pond or pool. Submersible pumps are used for this purpose. They are placed directly in the water and pump it out reliably – often with particularly high flow rates.
Irrigating without a socket: Watering with cordless water pumps
The rain has been generous, and now your cistern or water butt is full – but the vegetable patch is all the way at the back of the garden. The hose doesn’t reach, the watering can is heavy, and the nearest power socket is too far away. This is exactly where the solution comes in: a cordless garden pump that delivers water right where you need it – wirelessly and reliably. The pump remains dry on the ground, draws water from the butt or cistern, and generates enough pressure to operate garden sprayers or sprinklers. For pumping water directly from water butts, our cordless clear water pump models with swan neck design are also ideal. They allow you to water your garden easily and precisely – without heavy lifting and without power cables.
Our tip: Pay attention to the delivery head and pressure of your pump to ensure even distant beds are reliably supplied.
Rapid drainage: Pumping out with cordless submersible pumps
After a storm, the cellar is flooded – or the pool needs to be emptied before winter – but there’s no power socket in sight? No problem with a cordless submersible pump: simply place it directly in the water and it will pump it out quickly and with powerful performance. Depending on the situation, clear water pumps for clean water or dirty water pumps are used. This gives you independence and flexibility even in emergencies. After all, when every minute counts, you don’t want to waste time looking for an extension lead – you want to take action immediately.
Our tip: Choose a pump with a sufficiently high flow rate for your needs to ensure that even large volumes of water can be pumped out efficiently.
